Welcome to our Lava Log Briquette FAQs page! We've compiled a list of everything we think you might wish to know about our Lava Log briquettes. However, if you have any additional questions, you can contact us at the link below.

  • Lava Log briquettes can burn for hours but it depends heavily on the fire type and the settings used with a wood burning stove

  • Produced from timber waste, wood briquettes are cost-effective, especially when purchased in bulk. Wood briquettes are highly compacted wood chippings and shavings, with low moisture content thanks to the production process, providing high performance wood fuel with a long, clean burn and minimal ash content.

Here at Duffield Timber, we calculated that wood briquettes are around 45% better value for money compared to firewood and Lava Log wood briquettes, in particular, produce more heat over a longer period, making Lava Logs a superior briquette.

  • Briquettes offer many advantages, including higher energy output due to the high density of the compression, longer burn times, greater heat output, clean burn and lower ash content due to low moisture content. They are easy to store and handle, making them a convenient heating solution.

  • Wood briquettes are a type of heating fuel produced from compressed wood chippings and shavings. Wood briquettes come in various shapes and sizes, including traditional small brick, long rectangle, traditional cylinder, ventilated cylinder, ventilated octagon and disk shapes. The name 'briquette' originated in French. Its literal meaning is 'little brick'.

Here at Duffield Timber, we produce Lava Log wood briquettes from the waste material produced in our factory

  • Wood briquettes are hygroscopic, meaning they will absorb moisture from the air if not stored correctly. Made from compacted timber chippings and shavings, wood briquettes must be stored in a dry environment to prevent degradation.

    Duffield Timber recommend:

    1. Choose a dry, sheltered location; ideally indoors
    2. Store in the original plastic packaging
    3. Keep elevated and stacked neatly
  • Briquettes are made by compressing material into a desired shape and density. Wood briquettes are produced from wood chippings and shavings. Waste timber is collected, dried, compacted into shape and cut to size before being packaged ready for delivery

Lava Log briquettes are exposed to high temperatures throughout the production process, lowering the moisture content providing a clean burn and minimising the amount of ash produced
