Benefits of Choosing Timber Framed Buildings

Every year, thousands of builders opt for timber-framed structures over the standard brick and block. The number of timber framed buildings is increasing, and this is due to a number of factors:

Ready-Made Designs

Suppliers usually have popular designs readily available making your choice much easier. Popular structures are usually included in this, so requirements are usually met with these designs. The downside of this is if you’re looking for something more bespoke, this will have to be discussed with your chosen supplier.

Quicker Building Times

It’s estimated that timber framed buildings are erected 30% quicker than brick alternatives. When time is at a premium, this is definitely the option for you. Most structures arrive on-site pre cut and ready to erect, meaning it can go up very quickly and be weather tight in a matter of days, although this of course varies.

Layout Flexibility

Since load-bearing walls are generally not included, once erected, the interior layout of your structure is truly flexible, and can be customised to suit your needs. You can create any style you like, modern or traditional, depending on the cladding you choose.

Durable Designs

Timber framed buildings are also incredibly durable. They age fantastically well and equally traditionally built in terms of quality of build, durability, and predicted lifespan.

Environmentally Friendly

Of course, they are also much more environmentally friendly than brick built structures. Wood is renewable and non-toxic, with milling costs minimal compared to those of alternatives. Make sure the timber you’re purchasing is coming from well-managed forests, you can do this by looking out for PEFC and FSC logos. If you’re in any doubt, don’t be afraid to ask your supplier.
