At Duffield Timber, we are official stockists of Accoya.
An 'ultra high-performance sustainable' wood product, what makes Accoya such a fantastic choice for exterior cladding, decking and joinery projects?
What is Accoya wood?
Accoya is a modified wood product whereby Radiata pine softwood undergoes acetylation. This is a patented process that alters the wood's cellular structure to make it more durable, stable and rot resistant.
Wood's interaction with moisture is the biggest factor affecting its outdoor longevity. Acetylation involves using acetic anhydride to increase moisture-resistant acetyl groups and reduce water-attracting hydroxyl groups in the wood.
The result is an 'ultra high-performance sustainable' wood product, with Class 1 durability carrying a 50-year above-ground warranty. It has popular applications across cladding, decking and joinery.
It boasts the same versatile, clean pale yellow to golden-brown colour as Radiata pine. After around 10 months’ exposure, it will naturally silver if no further treatment is applied.

After attending a training session provided by Accoya covering use and technical data of the product, we are now an authorised supplier.
This means we're perfectly placed to help you bring the beauty and technical benefits of this unique product to your next project.
