We take a look back through 2025 at the trips, insights and farewells.
2025 marked an important milestone for us, as the next generation of the Duffield family took on the day-to-day running of the business. With fresh energy and new ideas, we’ve remained firmly rooted in the values, care and standards that have shaped our family business for generations.
It was a busy and rewarding year for everyone at Duffield Timber. We shared practical guides, project inspiration and a glimpse behind the scenes — from delving into cladding and thermally modified timber to visiting sawmills across North America and Canada — all with the same aim we’ve always had: to pass on knowledge, craftsmanship and quality you can rely on.
Our goal has always been to bring you the best in timber and provide useful insights and inspiration to help with your projects, big or small. We hope the ideas and tips we shared made your timber projects a little easier and a lot more enjoyable.
As we step into 2026, we’re excited to keep bringing you fresh ideas, the latest products in the industry, and practical advice — from cladding and decking to oak structures and sustainable sourcing. We’re looking forward to another year of great projects together.

April 2025 took us behind the scenes at some of the most advanced sawmills in the US and Canada — from cutting-edge automated grading systems to the finest hardwoods like oak, maple, walnut, and tulipwood. Discover the journey and the insights we brought back in our blog.

After an incredible 38 years with the company, our long-standing Finance Director, Angela, retired. For nearly four decades she has been a constant and trusted presence behind our finances, bringing care and a deep sense of responsibility to everything she did. Her loyalty, and commitment have played a huge part in shaping the business we are today. Angela will be sorely missed by everyone here, and we wish her the very happiest retirement.

One of the standout highlights of 2025 was the introduction of the
Burnblock® × Remmers system, bringing together certified fire-retardant performance and high-quality colour finishes in a single, tested solution. This industry-first collaboration gives specifiers greater confidence and creative freedom, allowing timber to meet stringent fire requirements without compromising on design — a significant step forward for modern timber cladding and interior applications.

A memorable highlight from 2025 was Duffield Timber’s immersive visit to the birthplace of thermal modification in Finland, where the team gained first-hand insight into the pioneering ThermoWood® process and the production of Thermo-Nordic Pine. This journey not only deepened knowledge of sustainable, high-performance timber but also reinforced connections with partners shaping the evolution of thermally modified wood for cladding, fencing and decking around the world.

Another year on, and our refurbishments have continued. In 2024, the focus was firmly on the Hobby Hall and shop, with further improvements planned for the counter area. Over the course of last year, we added solid oak shelving, a striking live-edge slab display and, for good measure, even introduced an oak boule—bringing even more character to the space.
We can't wait to bring you what we have in store for 2026!
