Coated black outside, left natural inside – this project shows the versatility of Thermo-ayous cladding, set in crisp contrast against the original brickwork.
The product of choice is Thermo-ayous cladding in our DTC47 – double vertical shadow gap secret nail profile (18 x 144mm, 128mm cover).

Unique to Duffield Timber, DTC47 carries a false central shadow gap on a single wider board – a narrower slat effect with sharper definition, and less fitting time on site. Externally, the boards were factory coated in Chartex® Black.
The finish sits deep in the timber's surface, keeping the soft, even grain of the ayous visible beneath the charred-black tone.

Internally and to the underside of the canopy, the same profile was supplied without a coating, providing additional contrast with its warm gold to mid-brown colours.
Planed square edge (PSE) Thermo-ayous was also machined for the window surrounds and detailing, giving clean, consistent lines throughout.

Installed by Kent Building Developments Ltd, the cladding introduces a clean, contemporary line against the weathered brick of the original house.
